THE ITALIAN PRINTING AND CONVERTING INDUSTRY: A VERY RECEPTIVE MARKET
ALMOST 70% IS SERVED BY INTERNATIONAL SUPPLIERS
The Italian printing and converting market is receptive and in rapid evolution. Grafitalia and Converflex, 2009 edition, on schedule from March 24th to 28th 2009 at Fiera di Milano exhibition center, will bring the most innovative printing technology, advances in digital printing and top equipment and materials for paper converting under the spotlight in Italy and in Europe.
The Italian market has an irresistible appeal: it is estimated around 1.1 billion € and has plenty of room for international suppliers. The market share for Made in Italy products is 32,4% circa, second only to Germany with a market share of 36,6% (figures by Acimga, 2006). Germany and Italy are the main suppliers for the converting industry: together, the two countries generate 36% of the world’s total business. Grafitalia and Converflex, which together make up the most important event of international relevance showcasing printing and converting technology in 2009, extend their user pool to the entire Mediterranean basin which includes 900 million consumers; the unification of the market in this area starting from 2010 will trigger new investment in innovation and new projects.
In order to fulfill the needs of the printing and converting markets, in continuous evolution, Centrexpo Spa is focusing its organizational effort on structuring the two exhibitions according to the different market segments addressed by the technology on display.
Grafitalia will showcase a complete range of machinery, equipment and supports for publishing and commercial printing companies, technology and materials for large-size printing, a large display of solutions for the communication industry (a new category of professionals attracted to the printing industry by the evolution in digital technology) and textile printing, an application of digital printing which is undergoing a exponential growth both in technology and in applications. The importance of materials, paper in particular, is underlined by Orizzonte Carta, a dedicated area for the world’s most important producers that has become a synergic milestone both for Grafitalia and for Converflex. Orizzonte carta is organized in cooperation with Assocarta, the trade association for the paper industry representing pulp, paper and board manufacturing companies in Italy..
The overwhelming advance opens up new opportunities for the converting industry as well; innovations include printing on new kind of packages, richly decorated and shaped; disposable products; tissue and cardboard; and a special focus on label-making machines, which are becoming increasingly important in the light of a global market and the growing need for product traceability.
Traditional and new visitors will find the most innovative solutions at Grafitalia and Converflex, on account of the strong synergy between the two exhibitions offering an exhaustive display of products equaled only by Drupa.
The 2009 edition will feature even more added value generated by the co-location with IPACK-IMA, Europe’s most important exhibition for processing and packaging technology in 2009. All three exhibitions will be accessible with a single entrance ticket, producing what the organizers have called a "cosmic event" at Fiera Milano: an event displaying technology and solutions for complementary market segments, the only one of its kind in the world. The synergy will be further enhanced by PLAST, the reference exhibition for the plastics and rubber industry taking place on the same dates at Fiera Milano.
